A new perspective at 2015 Global Skillsoft Perspectives in Orlando, Florida

So first of all, I miss my flight!!!! Well not technically correct but it makes a very long US Visa story short. Then the Airline loses my luggage, another long one but I got it back so let’s leave it there.

So already a day late I hasten to make up for a lost day by networking with the many Skillsoft partners I’ve known for many years who fill me in on the days channel partner intervention over a few chilled drinks in the amazing Shingle Creek and Golf hotel.

On to the main event on 20th May 2015, where I was joining around 1300 Skillsoft guests, bringing learning, talent and HR professionals together in business, government and education from all over the Globe.

Following excellent insights from key Skillsoft ‘C’ level executives who brought insight into future Skillsoft/SumTotal product plans and roadmaps was the awesome Mike Walsh. His message to study Anthropology not Technology was a hilarious global journey of anecdotes and observations that entertained the hugely crowded conference room.

Day two brought many engaging workshops on key topics such as analytics, reporting and measurement, focused sessions on talent management, including performance, succession planning, workforce management and compensation. And so to the main act, which was none other than Sir Ken Robinson whose stand up performance did indeed leave all of the audience on their feet in rapturous appreciation as he left the auditorium.

So what could top all that you ask? Well bumping into Sir Ken on his way out and having a fantastic 20 minutes chat about Dubai our region and all things Liverpool (or Everton to be more precise). By the way when I say bumped in I mean that in the literal sense when my glorious business partner Janine Croft smacked the door in his face as he tried to exit and she attempted to enter.

All I can say is thank you Janine for the impromptu introduction to my hero, thank you Skillsoft for your continued generosity and support and finally thank you USA for eventually letting me in.
