Improving Professional Effectiveness in the Learning Age

In the Learning Age, where organizations must develop the professional skills of their workforce to sustain growth and remain competitive, learning and development professionals need tools to empower their employees. At its core, we see the Learning Age as defined by personalization and targeted learning that addresses the specific knowledge and skills gaps a learner needs to overcome. So we’ve looked at our content and resources and developed a new collection of tools to address what we see as an increasingly broad set of requirements.

Skillsoft’s new Professional Effectiveness Collection aligns a variety of learning resources with the top competencies many organizations deem necessary for success in a professional setting. Whether it’s for employees just entering the workforce for the first time or more seasoned workers moving into new areas, the collection has been curated to cater to a wide variety of needs.

Learning is crucial for filling knowledge gaps and ensuring success for employees and their organizations. This continuous learning solution can be catered to the learner’s needs while supporting broader business objectives with flexible and scalable content, including:

  • More than 130 courses comprising over 130 hours of instruction;
  • More than 100 hours of content from video-based vignettes and simulations;
  • Approximately 1200 videos covering more than 70 hours of content;
  • 2070 digitized, full-text books, including over 130 in audio format; and

Breakfast with Jack Welch in Las Vegas!

As if it isn’t enough to go to one of the world’s most fascinating city on one of the world’s leading Airlines to the online learning global leader Skillsoft conference we had to put the cherry on top with a sensational hour with arguably the CEO of the century.

Jack and his wife Suzy were special hosts at an early 7 am breakfast organised by Skillsoft for a small gathering of VIP guests for an insight into the legends anecdotes spanning decades in charge of General Electric and his more recent activities.

The man was pure inspiration as he conversed unprompted for a few minutes before asking any of us if we had any questions. After a short pause there were loads, as we probed into the guy. The amazing energy, zest and pure fun he was having as he answered each question in a straight talking practical manner was enthralling. He doesn’t pull any punches and prides himself on his candour demonstrating through anecdotal evidence how it has been working in all of his companies over the years and continues to date.

The best news about this intervention is we as XpertLearning have now the opportunity to bring Jack’s way back home to the Middle East as a compelling product which will be available imminently.

Skillsoft our key strategic partner announced a partnership with the Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University for exclusive, global distribution of Welch Way management development solutions. Paul Michael Gledhill, co-founder of XpertLearning, quotes “It was a thrill being ranked in the top 100 last year but what has made it even better to be ranked this year was the fact that so many more companies participated, we continue to learn and grow on our journey and SME 100 has certainly accelerated this for us.”

The Dubai SME 100 celebrates Dubai’s top performing SMEs and places a balanced emphasis on financial and non-financial dimensions that affect enterprise performance and development. The non-financial dimensions cover Innovation, International Orientation, Human Capital Development and Corporate Excellence.

While 1,092 SMEs were nominated for the 2011 ranking, the 2013 ranking attracted more than 3,000 SME applicants, a 178 per cent increase over the first cycle.

Commented His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of DED: The Dubai SME100 initiative has truly made its mark in recognising Dubai’s top SMEs. These SMEs have made a difference to the Dubai business and economic landscape. I am proud of their entrepreneurial spirit and ambition to grow. I congratulate the top 100 SMEs, and wish them a great future.
